May 16, 2015 I believe that they states their music or loops in garageband are royalty-free, so you can use them. You are just not allowed to sell them or make app that its sole focus is on their sound. I am thinking about maybe using some of this effect, for my game. Crossover 12. 5 mac free. It is hard to recreate some of this effects.
GarageBand for iOS is a great app for creating music, but what if you have a project in mind that requires specific sound effects? Unlike the Mac app, GarageBand for iOS has a limited range of built-in sounds, so this tutorial shows you how to grab what you need from free-to-download websites like freesound.org.

- Jan 23, 2020 The secret to creating a perfect tune is knowing what effects to add to the mix. A little adjustment can make a huge difference. You get a polished and professional sound to whatever you’re working on. Follow these steps to add an echo effect in GarageBand: Open GarageBand on your Mac. Click on the track (or a preset loop) you’re trying to edit.
- GarageBand Tonewheel Organ. The Tonewheel Organ sound is based on the EVB3. It emulates the Hammond B3 organ, but it is also capable of emulating Farfisa, Wurlitzer, and other electric organs.
First you will you need an app that lets you download assets (like audio files) from websites. There are plenty that do this as downloading stuff is a popular activity! One that I have stumbled across recently that makes this fairly easy is iDownloads Pro as it has a built-in browser and file manager, and it’s only $0.99!
In the browser of iDownloads, navigate to freesound.org, or your website of choice for downloading free-to-use audio files, and make sure you read the licence agreements carefully—no stealing please!
Freesound.org requires you to be logged in, but once you find a sound you want, tap the ‘Download’ button. Choose ‘Download’ from the pop-up menu.
As with all apps of this type the file will download into the File Manager of the app itself—if you have already created sub-folders this will make organization easier.
Locate your file in the File Manager section and tap the blue arrow next to its name.
Tap the ‘Open with’ button which will make the ‘Open in..’ dialog appear (yes I know, why isn’t the ‘Open with’ button labelled ‘Open in..’?) Currently GarageBand is lagging behind other audio apps like BossJock and Audio Mastering for iPad which directly support the ‘Open in..’ protocol (strange as Apple develop both iOS and GarageBand!) so you will need to choose an audio editor app like TwistedWave or Hokusai (with Tools pack) as an intermediate step. So ‘Open in..’ one of these apps.
Edit, Copy, Paste
In the audio editor app carry out any editing that is required.
Copy the audio file to the AudioCopy clipboard—this will enable you to paste it into GarageBand.
In GarageBand, create an audio track. This means choosing one of the two instruments that support audio files, the ‘Audio Recorder’ track or the Guitar Amp’ track. If you are starting a project from scratch you will need to ‘record’ something so a project is created and you can see the instrument as a track—then delete what you recorded.
In Tracks view tap on the track background—a pop-up menu with the ‘Paste’ option will appear.
Paste the audio file from the AudioCopy clipboard into your project. GarageBand doesn’t have an audio file manager either (like Logic Pro’s Bin) so to use the sound effect in other projects you will need to copy and paste it from one to the other. It’s probably worth creating a project just for keeping sound effects in for this very reason!
You can add sounds to your iMovie project—in addition to or in place of the sound recorded with your video clips—to create a fun and professional finished video.

You can add a variety of audio files to your iMovie project:

- Your own custom songs created in an app like GarageBand or custom sound effects stored in iCloud Drive, on your device, or in another location.
And if you want to add voiceover narration, record it right into the timeline of your iMovie project.

Drag audio files into the iMovie project timeline on Mac
You can drag audio files like .mp4, .mp3, .wav, and .aif files from the Finder and the Desktop right into the timeline of your iMovie project. Audio files dragged into the timeline behave differently depending on where you drag them:
- If you want an audio file to stay with a particular video clip even if you move the video clip, drag the audio file just below the video clip so a bar connecting the clips appears. Use this to add sound effects or voiceover audio that you want to connect to a specific video clip in your project, no matter where the clip is in the timeline.
- If you drag an audio file to the music well, indicated by the musical note icon in the timeline, the audio clip won’t move if you move any video clips in the timeline. Use this to add background or theme music that plays throughout the entire project.
Add music and sound effects using the iMovie browser on Mac
You can browse and add content from your music library and built-in sound effects from within iMovie.
- With your project open, click Audio at the top of the window, then choose an option:
- To access your music library, click Music (or iTunes if you’re using macOS Mojave or earlier) in the Libraries list, then browse selections.*
- To access built-in sound effects like footsteps or rain, click Sound Effects in the Libraries list.
- To preview a song or sound effect before you add it to the timeline, click the play button next to each song or sound effect. You can also select a song or sound effect, click in the waveform at the top of the media browser, then press the Spacebar to preview.
- When you’ve found the song or sound effect you like, drag it from the media browser to the timeline:
- For background or theme music for your movie, drag songs to the music well.
- To attach music or sound effects to a specific video clip, drag it under the video clip so a bar connecting the clips appears.
If you want to use a song you’ve created in GarageBand and access it from the iMovie browser, share your GarageBand project to the media browser in GarageBand.
